The generic background music adds to that unofficial feeling. As far as the UI is concerned, I might’ve mistaken it for a cheap knockoff - the cards have the official recognizable art, but the character art is in a distinctly different style than the typical Pokémon fare, and the juxtaposition is a little strange. The Pokémon TCGO looks and sounds strikingly amateurish.
